UTDS Cast reminders

Next week is tech week so make sure you are bringing water every day, you wear deodorant to rehearsals, and rehearse in the shoes you are planning to wear in the show. There will be no dinner break for these rehearsals, so make sure you are bringing snacks to eat when you have time.

ALL STUDENTS must finish their poetry assignment by MONDAY the 20th. If you want to do more than one that would be AMAZING

Let Elle know what you need for hair and makeup if you absolutely cannot get it on your own.

The first day of tech week is a cue to cue, which means that we will be running the show and stopping whenever we need to solidify a light, sound, or tech cue. This means that actors need to be on their best behavior, patient, and focused.

You're an amazing cast! Have a good weekend! Make sure you are looking over your lines and you are memorizing. We still have a long ways to go. I know we can make it, but you need to work hard in order to help yourselves.

UTDS CAST - Stuff to do during rehearsals!

I want to fill the stage with realistic school projects, so I came up with something for you guys to do if you're not being used during rehearsals.

Here are a bunch of poems I found that were written before 1967 and that I thought Sylvia would teach in her English class.

Every student MUST choose one poem (or more) and re-write it on a piece of lined paper or printer paper. On the paper, you can get creative and either make a border or draw an illustration that is relevant to the poem. These should be colorful and creative. Somewhere on the paper, write the first and last name of your character and "period 1 English, Miss Barrett". Adults may also do one if they want!

The idea behind this is to create set dressings that look like actual assignments, so please make it look like you care about your grade. You do not need to analyze these poems, just illustrate them.

IE Information Link

Here's the Washington State Thespians Individual Events website.

The most helpful tabs are the "IE Guidelines - AT A GLANCE" and the "National Individual Events Guide EdTA" right underneath the image at the top of the page. These should answer your basic questions about IE, the guide EdTA has all of the rules and regulations.

At the bottom of the page are all of the rubrics for every single event you can participate in.

BvG, Play, and Improv Auditions

Hey gang! It's an exciting time, because it's the first auditions of the year!

If you haven't signed up, go do it! If there aren't any spots left, please write your name next to the slot that you wish to audition. It's looking full right now, but that doesn't mean you can't audition!

There will be NO 7th period production class all week. Classes will start again the following Monday.

Make sure your monologue is less than one minute long, and come 15 minutes before your audition slot. The callback list for each show will go up Monday night, with Boys vs Girls callbacks 3-5 on Tuesday and Up the Down Staircase callbacks 3-5 on Wednesday.

Improv auditions are Thursday from 2-3, and there might be additional improv callbacks on Friday from 2-3.

Audition forms for both of the plays AND improv are in the FORMS TAB. You need to print these, fill them out, and bring them to your audition.

We will be announcing the shows of the year on Tuesday the 12th so make sure you're there both days!

ALSO, all crew heads and crew head trainees stay after drama club on Monday for a meeting from 3-4. We need to talk about our plans for the year as well as moving forward with crew head training.

Musical Choreographer Needed!

Hello everyone! We hope everybody is having a great summer. We have an amazing leadership opportunity available for our spring musical!

Our choreographer is looking for a student from our program to help out, and even choreograph numbers out of the show! She can't make it to all of the dance rehearsals and needs a responsible student to teach when she is gone. She wants to spend a lot of our first semester teaching the student how to choreograph, so please let any of the execs or Mrs Powell know ASAP if you're interested. Keep in mind that if you are interested in being the assistant choreographer, your focus will be on choreography, due to the amount of responsibility and work that goes along with the role. If you are the assistant choreographer, it is recommended that you not audition for the show itself. If you do wish to still be in the musical, your part would be minimal.

Contact any of the execs on Facebook and/or Mrs Powell at mitchellk@edmonds.wedned.edu

Boys vs Girls Director Wanted!!

The first show of the year, the Boys vs Girls Fundraiser, wants YOU to direct! If you are interested, here is a director application, which is also found in the forms tab.

The form needs to be printed, filled out, and turned in to Mrs Powell by 2pm on September 8th, which is the first Friday of the school year. It is very important to know who is directing before drama club starts so they have a week to prepare for auditions.

Any questions can be sent to Mrs Powell at mitchellk@edmonds.wednet.edu

Beginning of the Year Parent Meeting

The 2017-2018 school year is going to be a big one, and our program could not succeed without the help of our parent volunteers. To keep your parents updated, there is a parent meeting October 12th from 7-8pm in the Black Box.

This meeting is not mandatory, but it is very helpful to keep parents in the loop. Students are welcome but are not required to come.

Crew Heads/Trainees Meeting

There is a MANDATORY meeting for all Meadowdale Drama crew heads September 11th from 3-4pm in the Black Box.

Bring your trainees so we can discuss leadership and expectations, as well as divvying responsibilities throughout the year.

Senior Leaders Meeting

The Meadowdale Players is introducing a new communication and bonding outlet that we are calling our drama families. Every senior is a senior leader to a family, and are expected to be leaders in drama, keep updated on what's happening, and be able to reach out to the underclassman members of their families with events and opportunities.

There is a MANDATORY Senior Leaders meeting September 7th from 2-3pm in the Black Box where we will be going over expectations and answering any questions about the drama families.
